One of our biggest challenges - and proudest achievements - is representing 7 different cultural mythologies in one cohesive game. Here's how we approached bringing 250+ deities to life in Raudra Cosmos.
Our Approach to Cultural Representation
Bringing 250+ deities from 7 different mythologies into one game is a significant creative challenge. We've studied these mythological traditions extensively to understand what makes each pantheon unique - their elemental associations, divine powers, stories, and the relationships between deities.
Each pantheon in Raudra Cosmos brings something distinct to the game, from the raw power of Norse thunder gods to the cosmic duality of Hindu deities. Our goal is to create balanced, engaging gameplay while honoring the source material that has inspired people for millennia.
The Seven Pantheons
Our 7 pantheons represent some of the world's richest mythological traditions:
Hindu (50+ Deities)
Shiva, Vishnu, Durga, Ganesha, Kali - Elements: Cosmic, Lightning, Nature. Design: Capturing divine duality.
Norse (40+ Deities)
Thor, Odin, Loki, Freya, Tyr - Elements: Lightning, Ice, Dark. Design: Raw power and sacrifice.
Egyptian (35+ Deities)
Ra, Anubis, Isis, Osiris, Thoth - Elements: Light, Fire, Earth. Design: Life, death, rebirth cycle.
Greek (45+ Deities)
Zeus, Hera, Athena, Apollo, Poseidon - Elements: Lightning, Water, Wind. Design: Archetypal heroes.
Shinto (35+ Deities)
Amaterasu, Susanoo, Tsukuyomi - Elements: Nature, Light, Water. Design: Harmony and kami spirits.
Taoist (30+ Deities)
Jade Emperor, Guan Yu, Nezha, Monkey King - Elements: Air, Mind, Chaos. Design: Balance and cultivation.
Babylonian (25+ Deities)
Marduk, Ishtar, Gilgamesh, Tiamat - Elements: Fire, Dark, Chaos. Design: Ancient might and epic tales.
Tier System Design
Our tier system tells players about rarity at a glance: UR, SSR, SR, R, Uncommon, Common. But rarity doesn't equal raw power - a well-built lower-tier team can defeat a poorly assembled high-tier one.
Each tier has different characteristics:
- Stat curves: Higher tiers have better base stats but diminishing returns
- Skill potentials: More powerful abilities at higher tiers
- Acquisition rates: Balanced to make every pull exciting
Design Philosophy: Collection goals exist for each tier. Pulling a UR feels exciting, but finding and building up an R deity can be just as satisfying.
Elemental Strategy
With 14 elements, we created a web of strengths and weaknesses that encourages strategic thinking:
- Fire beats Nature, Nature beats Water, Water beats Fire
- Lightning beats Wind, Wind beats Earth, Earth beats Lightning
- And many more interactions across 14 elements
Some deities have multiple elements. Some have unique interactions. This depth is what keeps combat interesting after hundreds of battles.
Four Skills Per Deity
Every deity has four skills that reflect their mythology:
- Passive: Always-active bonuses that define the deity's role
- Skill 1: Basic combat ability - the bread and butter
- Skill 2: Advanced tactical option - for key moments
- Ultimate: Game-changing power move - the signature ability
The mechanics serve the lore. Shiva's skills reflect destruction and rebirth. Thor's call down lightning. Thoth's manipulate knowledge and fate.
Bringing Deities to Life
Each deity in the game has four unique skills that reflect their mythology - from Shiva's destruction and rebirth themes to Thor's legendary thunder. The mechanics serve the lore, creating authentic gameplay experiences.
We're currently working on the visual design for all 250+ deities. This is a massive undertaking, but seeing each deity come to life in the game is incredibly rewarding.
The Goal: When players see their favorite deity in-game, we want them to feel recognized and respected. That's the standard we hold ourselves to.
