Equipment is a core progression system in Raudra Cosmos. Here's how we designed our 4-slot system, set bonuses, and enhancement mechanics to create deep, satisfying progression.
The 4-Slot Philosophy
We went with four equipment slots: Weapon, Armor, Helmet, and Boots. Why four and not five or six?
The Balance: Four slots strikes the right balance - enough to feel meaningful when you upgrade, but not so many that managing equipment becomes a chore.
Each slot serves a clear purpose:
Weapon
Primary offensive stat boost - ATK, Crit Rate, Crit Damage
Armor
Primary defensive bulk - HP, DEF, HP%
Helmet
Secondary defense + utility - DEF, Resistance, Effect Resistance
Boots
Speed and evasion - SPD, Evasion, Effectiveness
18 Gear Sets
Our gear sets encourage players to think about their builds. Each set has a unique identity:
Offensive Sets
Berserker Set
Risk/reward damage focus. Lower DEF for massive ATK boosts.
Mystic Set
Magic amplification. Bonus skill damage and cooldown reduction.
Divine Set
Hybrid approach. Balanced ATK/DEF with crit bonuses.
Rage Set
Grows stronger in battle. ATK increases as HP decreases.
Defensive Sets
Guardian Set
Team protection. Damage taken redirected to wearer.
Fortress Set
Pure tanking. Massive HP and DEF with damage reduction.
Aegis Set
Counter-attack focus. Reflects damage taken.
Immortal Set
Survival bonuses. Revive chance and lifesteal.
Utility Sets
Swift Set
Speed and evasion. Go first, dodge attacks.
Sage Set
Resource generation. Energy regen and cooldowns.
Vampire Set
Sustain through lifesteal. Heal on dealing damage.
10 Rune Sets
Runes add another layer of customization. Unlike equipment, runes aren't about raw stats - they're about builds and playstyles.
- Want a speed-focused team? There's a rune set for that.
- Building around crit rate and crit damage? We've got you covered.
- Need control effects? Runes provide stuns, freezes, and more.
Runes let players fine-tune their strategies. Combined with equipment sets, the build variety is enormous.
Set Bonus System
Our set bonuses scale with more pieces equipped:
- 2-piece bonus: Modest boost - usually +10-15% to a stat
- 4-piece bonus: Transformative effect - changes how the deity plays
Design Intent: 2-piece bonuses are accessible. 4-piece bonuses require commitment but reward it with game-changing effects.
Enhancement Journey (+0 to +15)
The enhancement system is a grind, but a satisfying one. Here's the progression:
Each level feels achievable, and the gradual stat increases keep players motivated. But there's a twist:
- +0 to +8: 100% success rate, low cost
- +9 to +12: 80-60% success rate, moderate cost
- +13 to +15: Lower success rates, high cost, risk of failure
Risk vs Reward
Higher enhancement levels have lower success rates and cost more materials. This creates strategic decisions:
- Do I risk this upgrade now, or save for later?
- Should I use protection items to prevent downgrade on failure?
- Is this gear worth the investment, or should I wait for better drops?
What's Next for Equipment
We're currently working on the equipment UI and inventory management. The backend systems are complete, and we're now focused on making the player experience smooth and intuitive.
Future Plans: Special event equipment, set expansion, enhancement protection items, and community-driven set designs.
Equipment is more than stats - it's about expression. Finding the perfect set for your favorite deity, seeing a build come together, that's the satisfaction we're designing for.
